Cellulite occurs when fat accumulates in adipocytes (fat cells) under the skin. As these fat cells enlarge, they block the drainage of waste, leading to inflammation. This inflammation pushes the adipocytes against the skin, creating visible deformations and the granular texture known as “orange peel skin.” Cellulite primarily affects women and can appear in various areas of the body, including :
- Thighs
- Abdomen
- Knees
- Buttocks
- Back and bra folds
- Arms
Unlike normal fat, cellulite has a specific location and is not necessarily linked to excess weight. It is notoriously difficult to eliminate, even with exercise, a balanced diet, or the use of creams.
