The frown line is an expression wrinkle that can appear at a young age. The effects of aging can worsen it. Throughout life, the skin produces collagen and elastin, two substances that maintain firmness and elasticity. However, with age, these components diminish, causing gradual dehydration of the skin. The skin thins, making wrinkles and fine lines more visible, especially during facial movements. External factors like smoking, alcohol consumption, and excessive sun exposure can worsen this process.
The frown line appears in the “glabella” region, between the eyebrows. It is caused by muscle movements in the forehead, particularly the procerus muscle (above the nose) and the corrugator muscles (at the brow head). Over time, the frown line becomes more pronounced and persistent, making facial expressions look harsher and more fatigued.
