Fractional Laser: Addressing Acne Scars, Surgical Scars, and Wrinkles

The fractional laser is a next-generation technology designed to resurface and tone the skin by delivering highly precise thermal energy. The device’s roller ensures the skin’s surface remains intact, promoting faster healing and recovery.

By stimulating collagen fibers—a key component of the skin—the laser improves texture, reduces acne and surgical scars, smoothens wrinkles, and even diminishes stretch marks. This treatment is effective for skin types ranging from I to IV on the Fitzpatrick scale.

How the Frax Pro Non-Ablative Fractional Laser Works ?

Dr. Aimé uses the Frax Pro non-ablative fractional laser, a state-of-the-art device that addresses deep skin imperfections with minimal social downtime.
The laser delivers numerous micro-columns of thermal energy per square centimeter, ensuring deep skin resurfacing. Its non-ablative technology eliminates the risk of surface damage.

The Frax Pro creates thermal columns in the skin, known as “microthermal zones” (MTZ). These zones heat the dermis, triggering neocollagenesis—the formation of new collagen. As a result, the skin continues to improve for 3 to 6 months post-treatment.

Fractional Laser Treatment with Frax Pro by Candela

The Frax Pro fractional laser treatment is generally not painful. However, Dr. Aimé can prescribe a numbing cream to enhance comfort during your session.
The SoftCool cooling system reduces heat sensation by emitting a stream of cool, humid air throughout the procedure.

Sessions are quick, lasting only 10 to 15 minutes for the face.

Areas Treatable with the Fractional Laser

The Frax Pro laser can treat various areas, including the face, neck, and décolleté.

Laser for Acne Scars and Surgical Scars

The treatment is suitable for skin types I to IV. Before your session, Dr. Aimé will conduct a thorough examination of the targeted area and discuss any contraindications (e.g., pregnancy, breastfeeding, or skin conditions).

A customized treatment plan and cost estimate will be provided, along with an information and consent document.

For optimal results :

  • Acne scars typically require 3 to 5 sessions.
  • Surgical scars need 2 to 4 sessions.

The number of sessions depends on the severity of the condition, your skin type, and your age. Sessions are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

Laser for Facial Wrinkles

The fractional laser effectively treats fine lines, crow’s feet, and wrinkles around the mouth. The SoftCool cooling system minimizes discomfort, allowing you to resume social and professional activities immediately.

During the session, Dr. Aimé will protect your eyes with goggles and pass the laser over the treatment area 2 to 3 times. The laser creates micro-coagulation points in the dermis, resulting in a tightening effect that smoothens wrinkles. The collagen regeneration restores skin density for long-lasting results.

For wrinkle correction, 3 to 5 sessions are recommended.
